White supremacy has kept this man from you.

Why is it that our people know more about the people who enslaved us rather than the people who fought to liberate us? George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Hancock all owned slaves by the way. And, they owned several hundred each and raped some of them, but they don't teach you that in school. They'll just use broad and ambiguous terms like " As flawed as he was." We don't know things like this because all of the school text books in America are produced and regulated through only 3 companies and that's a problem. That's too much power concentrated in the hands of too few. Because of this, our people are kept from the true liberators and people who fought for our freedom. Our people need to know about Marcus Garvey, a Jamaican Activist who was born in 1887. Garvey's philosophy of Black Nationalism was considered extremely radical for his time. He wanted to reduced Black's economic independence from white people. He founded several branches of the Universal Negro Improvement and Conservation Association and African Communities League (UNIA) in several countries. Garvey launched various businesses in the U.S., including the Negro Factories Corporation and Negro World newspaper. He ironically had relationships with the KKK because both had shared goals in racial separatism. This separated Garvey from other activist like W.E.B. Du Bois and the NAACP. He was arrested for mail fraud in 1923, served 2 of a 5 year sentence, and deported back to Jamaica. Then, he moved to London and continued his activism there. Eventually, he died here, and his body was shipped back to Jamaica.

We encourage you all to do you own research about black historical figures, even ones that existed dating back to 6000BC. DO NOT let the people who oppressed you tell you who your hero's are!

"Only a fool would let his oppressor educate their children." -Brother Malcolm X
